Frequently Asked Questions | The Counseling Haven
What makes therapy at The Counseling Haven different?
At The Counseling Haven in Bay Minette, Alabama, therapy doesn’t just aim to help you cope; it’s designed to create real, lasting change.
I specialize in neuroscience-based, trauma-informed care, using The RESET Method™, a brain-based approach I developed to help clients feel better faster, and stay better longer. RESET works with your brain’s natural capacity to heal by using bilateral stimulation and memory reconsolidation to release stuck emotional patterns without having to re-live the pain.
Clients often experience meaningful relief in just a few sessions. And while a breakthrough can happen quickly, long-term healing is about more than resolving a single moment. That’s why many clients continue in therapy to build resilience, develop emotional regulation skills, and maintain growth over time.
Whether you’re navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD, neurodivergence, grief, or family stress, I offer a safe, compassionate space where healing is intentional, effective, and deeply personal.
What ages do you work with?
I work with children (ages 6+), teens, and adults across all stages of life. My approach meets each person where they are, developmentally, emotionally, and neurologically.
From helping kids manage big feelings, to supporting teens through identity and school struggles, to guiding adults through trauma, burnout, or transitions, therapy is tailored to what you need.
I also bring nearly 20 years of marriage and experience raising five kids of my own, so I understand family dynamics not just professionally, but personally. My training includes advanced study in human development, trauma, and evidence-based models like Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and other brain-integrative approaches.
🧠 What is The RESET Method™?
The RESET Method™ is a neuroscience-based therapeutic process that helps your brain let go of distressing memories, emotional loops, and outdated patterns without having to relive the pain.
It combines bilateral stimulation, guided awareness, and memory reconsolidation to help the nervous system resolve what’s been stuck. Most clients describe the process as empowering, clarifying, and often faster than anything they’ve tried before.
RESET can support healing in:
Trauma (single-incident or complex)
Anxiety and stress
Burnout and emotional exhaustion
Depression and mood instability
OCD and intrusive thoughts
Self-sabotage and limiting beliefs
Grief and life transitions
Many clients experience measurable change in just 1–3 sessions. Some continue with ongoing care. Others come back for future RESET sessions when needed.
Do you only treat trauma?
While trauma is my specialty, I also work with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, OCD, emotional regulation issues, and relational or behavioral challenges. Because so many mental health struggles are rooted in unprocessed emotional pain, resolving that pain often brings unexpected relief in other areas too.
How long will therapy take?
Everyone’s path is different. That said, The RESET Method often creates noticeable shifts in just a few sessions. You may come in for a short-term reset, or choose to continue with supportive therapy to build deeper resilience over time.
My goal? To help you get better faster, and stay better longer.
Do you take insurance?
I operate as a private-pay practice. This allows us to prioritize your goals without being limited by diagnosis requirements, session caps, or third-party involvement. That means more privacy, more flexibility, and care that’s actually centered around you.
Sliding scale options are available for qualifying clients. I believe therapy should be accessible, and I’ll do my best to help you find a plan that works.
